What is an event QR code?
It's a QR code that encodes the event itself - title, start and end time, location, and a description - using the standard iCalendar format calendar apps already use. Scanning it opens the "Add Event" screen directly, nothing typed.
Does it work with both iPhone and Android?
Yes. Scanning it opens whatever calendar app is already set as the default on the scanner's phone - Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, or anything else - through the built-in camera app, no separate app to install.
What fields can I include?
Title is the only required field. Start and end date/time, location, and a description are all optional, so a QR code for something simple takes seconds to set up.
Is this different from just texting someone the date?
A text still needs someone to open their calendar and type the details in themselves. Scanning the QR code puts the event directly onto their calendar, already filled in.
Will my event QR code expire?
No. A static event QR code works permanently - but the date and details are fixed at creation. If the event gets rescheduled, you can either generate a new one or upgrade to a dynamic QR code to update the details without reprinting.
