Scheduled QR Codes: One Code, Different Content by Day or Time
A printed QR code doesn't know what time it is by default — scan it Tuesday morning or Saturday night, it points to exactly the same place. Scheduling changes that: the same printed code shows different content depending on the day of the week or the time it's scanned, decided automatically, with nothing about the physical code ever changing.
This started as a menu-specific feature (see how EverScans handles menu scheduling) but now works the same way across every dynamic QR type — a WhatsApp number, a contact card, a website link, all of it.
What it actually replaces
Without scheduling, "different content at different times" means one of two things: reprinting the code every time the hours change, or sending scanners to a page that makes them choose ("Lunch menu / Dinner menu / Weekend specials"). Scheduling does the choosing for them — set which days and hours each version applies to once, and the right one shows up automatically every time.
Where it's useful beyond menus
- A WhatsApp QR code that routes to your after-hours support line once the shop closes, and back to your main line during business hours — customers get the right conversation without needing to know which number to text.
- A vCard QR code that shows a different contact card during a conference or trade show than the rest of the year — a booth-specific title or line, live only for the days you're actually there.
- A website QR code that points to a "we're open" landing page during business hours and a "see you tomorrow" page after close — useful on a storefront window or door sign.
- An event check-in QR code active only during the event's actual hours, so it doesn't stay live (or confusing) before or after.
How it works
Each QR code can have multiple named sections — think of them as variants — and each one gets its own days-of-week and time-window schedule. When someone scans, EverScans checks the current day and time (evaluated in your chosen timezone, not the scanner's) against every section's schedule and sends them straight to whichever one matches, no intermediate "pick one" screen. If nothing matches right now — say, a QR code with only business-hours sections, scanned at 2am — scanners see a simple page listing every available option instead of hitting a dead end.
Turning it on
It's an opt-in toggle, not something forced onto every QR code — most dynamic QR codes are still just one destination, and that stays exactly as simple as it's always been. Scheduling shows up as an extra option when creating or editing a dynamic QR code on Pro or Business; toggle it on, set your timezone, then add as many time-scheduled sections as you need.
Getting started
Scheduling is available on the Pro and Business plans, on any dynamic QR type. Create a dynamic QR code to start, or read about running a QR code campaign if you're setting one up for a specific push rather than something ongoing.
